AI & Data Processing Notice
This Notice explains how Athlon's optional Financial AI features work, what information may be processed when you use them, the choices you have, and the limits of what these features can do. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. What Financial AI Does
Financial AI is an optional feature. When you use it, you can ask questions in your own words about the financial information available in your Athlon account and receive written responses, summaries, explanations, and suggestions.
Financial AI is informational only. It helps you understand and organize information. It does not act on your behalf.
You can use the non-AI parts of Athlon without ever turning Financial AI on.
2. What Information May Be Processed
When you use a Financial AI feature after providing the required consent, the following may be transmitted to Athlon's active AI service provider for processing:
- the prompt or question you submit;
- the financial context reasonably needed to answer your prompt, such as relevant transactions, categories, budget figures, or summary amounts;
- and the response generated for you.
We aim to send only the minimum relevant context needed to produce a useful answer.
3. What Athlon Does Not Intentionally Send
Athlon does not intentionally transmit the following to an AI service provider:
- bank usernames, passwords, or other login credentials;
- authentication secrets, session tokens, or security codes;
- complete financial account numbers;
- internal Athlon system identifiers;
- or unrestricted, raw copies of your full account records.
Athlon never receives or stores your bank username or password. Account connections are made through our account connectivity provider, as described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Saved Chat and Temporary Chat
Saved Chat
Saved Chat stores your conversations in your Athlon account so you can return to them later. Storing conversation history requires a separate consent from the consent to external AI processing. You can export saved conversations and permanently delete them individually or in bulk.
Temporary Chat
Temporary Chat is a separate mode. Athlon does not retain Temporary Chat conversations as conversation history after the session ends.
Temporary Chat still involves external processing. If an external AI service provider is used to generate the response, consent to external AI processing is still required, and the provider may temporarily process, log, or retain the request under its own contract and security terms.
5. Processing Consent and Withdrawal
External AI processing occurs only when you use a Financial AI feature after providing the required consent.
You may withdraw your consent to external AI processing at any time. Withdrawal applies to future processing. It does not undo processing that already occurred, and it does not require you to close your Athlon account. Non-AI features may remain available to you after you decline or withdraw consent.
You can manage these choices using Athlon's in-app privacy controls or by emailing privacy@athlon.finance. See Privacy Choices and Requests.
6. History Consent, Export, and Deletion
Saving conversation history requires separate consent. If you do not provide it, Athlon does not store your conversations as saved history.
If you have saved history, you may:
- export your saved conversations;
- permanently delete individual conversations;
- permanently delete saved conversations in bulk;
- and disable saved history, at which point you are given appropriate choices to keep or delete existing saved conversations.
Deleting your Athlon account initiates deletion of associated AI history, subject to legally required retention and Athlon's approved backup procedures. See Account Deletion.
7. Provider Training and Retention Controls
Athlon contracts with its AI service provider for business use and seeks terms and configuration settings that restrict use of Athlon data for training the provider's models.
Whether a provider may use data for training, and how long it may retain or log requests, depends on that provider's contract, configuration, and security and abuse-prevention practices. We do not claim that every provider retains nothing, and we do not make an unconditional promise that no data is ever used for model training. A provider may temporarily retain or log requests for reasons such as service operation, security, and abuse prevention.
The current provider's training and retention status, as configured by Athlon, is shown below.

Athlon plans to launch Financial AI using OpenAI. No production AI service provider is currently configured for disclosure on this page. When Athlon activates a provider following its privacy, security, and legal review, this section will be updated with that provider's details, and the planned provider will be shown as the current provider.
8. Provider Selection and Switching Policy
Athlon plans to launch Financial AI using OpenAI as its initial AI service provider. OpenAI is not yet configured in production, so it is described here as the planned initial provider rather than the current provider.
Athlon selects and controls one active AI service provider for all users. You do not select a provider.
Athlon may replace OpenAI with another reviewed provider, such as Google Gemini or Anthropic, or another provider approved through Athlon's privacy, security, and legal review process, based on privacy, security, quality, availability, or business considerations. Only providers approved through that process should be activated.
A provider change is made through Athlon's backend configuration and should not materially alter the app experience. This Notice identifies the current active provider and is updated when the provider changes. Where a material change in processing legally requires it, Athlon will provide additional notice or seek renewed consent.
Training, retention, privacy, and security statements in this Notice depend on the active provider's approved contract and configuration.
9. Limitations and No Professional Advice
AI responses may be incomplete, stale, delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate. Review them independently before relying on them.
Financial AI is informational and is not legal, tax, accounting, investment, credit, or fiduciary advice. Safe-to-Spend and similar figures are informational estimates. They are not account balances, guarantees, or instructions to spend.
You remain responsible for your own financial decisions.
10. AI Does Not Move Money or Change Accounts
Financial AI does not automatically move money, transfer funds, make payments, modify or close accounts, submit filings, or execute other consequential financial actions.
Confirmations and consequential proposals surfaced by Financial AI are review-only. Any action requires your own separate steps.
11. Eligibility
Athlon accounts are currently restricted to users who are 18 years of age or older.
